Taking the "yikes" factor out of interviews
The time is finally here. After interning with companies, job-searching for hours online, and finishing up on the remaining courses within your college career, the time has finally led up to this one moment: An interview with the company of your dreams.
How does a person prepare for such a momentous interview? There are plenty of resources available at the Career Center to help guide you, as you advance from college to the working world. One particular service is the Career Center's Mock Interview. Through this service, you'll be able to practice for your interview, obtain feedback from the advisor, and even evaluate yourself through an optional taping of your mock interview. The advisor will be able to ask specific questions related to your intended position and offer valuable words of advice as a person familiar with the interviewing process.
My first mock interview was a great experience. My advisor had asked questions related to my applied position and was able to suggest tips and improvements that I would not have otherwise thought of. He had answered my questions adequately and referred me to Career Center services that could also further assist me within my search for a career. A mock interview helps tremendously in preparation for the actual interview.
