Veteran Support at UW

The Career Center proudly supports UW students and UW alumni who are veterans of the United States military. Below are just a number of ways we can support you:

  • Individual career counseling 
  • Walk-in appointments
  • Networking events 
  • Career workshops 

Career Counseling appointments (usually lasting about 50-60 minutes) are FREE to UW Alumni who are veterans, or for UW Alumni who are currently enlisted in the United States military. In addition, the Career Center has teamed up with VetCorps (part of AmeriCorps and the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs) to provide specialized support to student veterans. VetCorps is staffed by current student veterans who are specially trained to help veterans with issues relating to educational benefits, career advising, and miliary-to-civilian/academic life transition. Our Mission

VetCorps works with the UW Career Center to provide career and job search services for student veterans. Just as the Career Center’s mission is to serve as a bridge from college life to business life, VetCorps’s mission is to serve as a bridge from the college AND military life to the business life. In unity with the Career Center, VetCorps supports the exploration of career and academic options, the development of job search skills, and facilitating connections between employers and student veterans leading to successful and satisfying futures.
 

Who We Are

VetCorps is staffed by two current UW student veterans who provide career and academic advising services for student veterans. VetCorps seeks to be a unique career advising service for veterans by veterans.
